A person’s rights to free speech, free association, and free exercise of religion are the most important rights secured by the Constitution. It is no accident that these rights are protected by the very First Amendment to the Constitution.

I am attorney Rob Frank in Lewisburg, West Virginia. I represent individuals in civil actions for deprivation of their First Amendment rights. Examples of First Amendment cases include governmental actions that:

• Deprive or limit an individual or group from freely expressing a viewpoint, particularly when that viewpoint is unpopular
• Prevent or limit individuals or groups from freely associating with each other
• Restrict an individual or church in the free exercise of faith

I have protected individuals’ right to advocate on causes and issues as diverse as drug legalization and advocacy of gun rights. I have litigated the rights of ethnic minorities to be free from race-based restrictions on their associational rights. I also protect and advise churches whose right to freely worship is attacked through overzealous zoning or directly by groups and individuals with a professed hostility to religious institutions.

I have successfully tried a number of civil rights cases. I am proud to have been hired to represent assistant district attorneys in Los Angeles County in First Amendment claims filed against the district attorney of Los Angeles County. I was also co-lead counsel in Estate of Wallace v. City of Los Angeles, the civil rights case stemming from the death of the famed rapper Biggie Smalls.
